index is even more extensive, covering a large percentage of the stocks
traded on the major exchanges. Despite its name, the Dow Wilshire 5000 is actually made up of
approximately 6,700 stocks, drawn from a wide range of small, medium, and large companies.
Its goal is to track practically every publicly traded stock, so it is often called the “total” market
index.
